Pixel Blackletter
This Pixel Blackletter Typeface is the result of an editorial design class @ecalmatd by Marie Lusa, the Brief being to draw inspiration from the Crosstitch tradition, from the Engadin region in particular.
Having a fascination for blackletter typefaces, I was happily inspired by coming across multiple blackletter-crossstitching-patterns and really liked the aesthetic clash of these ‘pixelated’ blackletter typefaces, which is something i had not really come across before.
My design is roughly based on a 1932 “Fette Fraktur” design by Berthold, sold as “Bismarck-Fraktur” (Probe Nr. 279).
In addition to the typeface, a set of special characters were to be drawn, I chose to base mine off of different heraldry animals.
